You've had over 2 weeks to clarify what the so called MCS's official view of the Optimum Population Trust is. Just because it conflicts with your profit margin targets is surely not a reason to dismiss Sir Davids recommendations?
@Phil Beenham I notice the so called MCS have been name dropping Chris Packham as someone who says Marine protected areas are a good idea. Thing is, they are the marine equivalent of isolated nature reserves on land, which he strongly condemned in an article in Wildlife Extra in 2008; see the following link for details 'What’s the point of nature reserves?'. He's also been criticised in a June 2011 Bournemouth Echo edition for not fully understanding how the eco-system in The New Forest is managed; it's where he lives! Is there anyone else out there who is capable of doing their own research rather than loving being spoon fed bollocks?

Hi Phil Brindley - Just to be clear with regard to your comments on the Fish Fight discards figures: MCS did not supply any information in relation to this to Fish Fight - our work was more species related. You will need to take this issue up with Fish Fight directly as we cannot retract something that was not ours in the first place. You keep referring to Sir David Attenborough and our lack of support towards him and his work. MCS as an organization has nothing other than the highest regard for the work of Sir David and we’re not entirely sure where your evidence has come from, perhaps you could enlighten us?

Why would the MCS comment on overpopulation, their remit is to take care of the seas in any way that they can you are just being obstinate in your desire to suck up David Attenborough behind rather than offering sensible responses. If you want people to take you seriously stop acting like a spoiled little boy who can't see anyone elses point of view. You are ridiculous.

I can see perfectly clearly and if you think that you are going to make a difference to the world by preaching about overpopulation which is obviously a problem but is not something that can be affected by a small group like the MCS then you are delusional.
I would rather join a bandwagon attempting to make a difference than taking a high point of view with no real feasable consequence.
It doesn't require individual thought Jean Luc, just collective consciencenous. By fronting a so called conservation group and not even considering over population until you are forced to by myself, you are just thinking about your own pocket. It can'y be more simpler than 'all conservation is irrelevant unless the human population stabalises or do you'Not unda stand tha langwidge'?
ReplyDeleteIf this is Jean Luc - in response to your latest article i've torn to pieces in my post on the 21/06/11 How's the warming of the seas going to be helped by modern technology? Is modern technology going to stop the construction of dams, which is already ruining riverine fisheries which produce 40% of the global catch. Is modern technology going to stop coastal erosion (lack of silt from damming causes a high proportin of it) and with it the breeding grounds of many fish. What's your view on the Chago Islands post i've put on here today. You've a lot of things to answer for if you are Jean Luc Solandt or not. Being as you know Sir David so well please tell him if hewishes to comment on my work he is free to do so any time he wishes - tell him to drop a comment here and i'm sure we'll have a lot more than you think in common.
