23 Apr 2012, 9:47 AM FARMER INJECTS HIS CATTLE WITH SLURRY A former Young Dairy Farmer of the Year nominee was jailed for three years in the summer of 2001 for injecting his cattle with slurry in order to defraud the State of £20,000 bovine TB compensation. Cornelius Keane (then 38), from Bawnbue, Drimoleague, Co Cork, had pleaded guilty to five sample charges arising from his decision to inject potentially poisonous and harmful material into his 49-strong cattle herd on January 25, 2000, in a bid to obtain TB reactor grants. Judge AG Murphy warned Keane that his cruelty merited a lifetime ban from farming but that the court did not have the power to impose this censure. He added that Keane would have received a seven-year rather than three-year prison term but for the fact he acted out of sheer desperation to save his farm and that his wife, Mary, was then pregnant with their fifth child. Cork Circuit Criminal Court heard that when Department of Agriculture vets inspected Keane's farm after becoming suspicious about his TB test results, they were horrified at what they found. Supt Veterinary Inspector, John Murray, told the court he found the cattle in severe pain, some of them with "half Gaelic-football-sized swellings" on their necks. These swellings were oozing poisonous puss. The 37-year-old West Cork farmer pleaded guilty to sample offences, including breaches of the Criminal Damage Act (1991), Bovine TB Order (1989), Diseases of Animals Act (1979) and the Protection of Animals Act (1911). The court was told Keane injected his cattle on January 25th 2000 with caustic slurry run-off from his milking parlour, a poison calculated to interfere with the accuracy of the Department of Agriculture's normal tuberculin test for TB. His farm had already been restricted because of TB outbreaks for two years. If it was again confirmed in his herd, he stood to benefit from £21,320 in reactor grants coupled with £980 per month in income-support payments. He admitted 14 offences of injecting grit and other material into the cattle in an attempt to falsify the test results between September 2007 and January 2008. He was fined a total of £12,600 and ordered to pay legal costs of £3,000.

Romanian Farmville becomes farming whilst UK farming becomes Farmville

Romanian Farmville fans claiming £400,000 in government subsidiaries for fake cows is nothing compared to the 
£100,000,000 UK farmers claim off taxpayers 
through fake claims every year.

Compensation paid to Farmers for bovine Tuberculosis infected cattle has been deliberately over payed by the government; resulting in farmers spreading the disease deliberately so that they get more money than the cattle will ever earn for them. 

This has resulted in tax payers forking out up to £100 million too much every year for the past 1o years, just because all political groups have to keep rural communities happy in trying to win the crucial votes in small constituencies that are often the difference between winning and losing an election.

Furthermore, the Department for the Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) told me that it is “continuingly trying to instigate a cull of badgers to  reduce the financial and emotional cost to farmers”. However, their own 2008 report shows the majority of financial loses that farmers encounter are nothing to do with bTB.

Lola, a bichon frise puppy, joined the Osborne family in Downing Street at the weekend. The Government’s top money minister introduced the world to his new pet by posting a picture of her on the web.
A few hours later, he wrote: “Thanks for all the messages. Some early issues with toilet training… but we don’t care. We love her.”
Earlier on this week, First News was sent an exclusive photo of Lola settling into life in Downing Street. The image seems to reveal that the Chancellor's new puppy has high-quality reading habits.

But was this an attempt at distracting the electorate from the more important matters at hand?

It was revealed on Friday that the chancellor had splashed £10.2million of taxpayers’ money on upgrades to the Treasury HQ in Whitehall.

David Cameron is a hypocrite for naming Nelson Mandela his personal hero

While Mandela languished behind bars, the Tory leader enjoyed an all-expenses-paid junket to a white supremacist South Africa

Cam the Sham’s lack of shame in naming Nelson Mandela as hispersonal hero is gobsmacking.

Asked which living person he most admires, the Tory leader said 
it was the freedom fighter who led South Africa’s liberation struggle.

“For his grace and complete lack of bitterness,” oozed the PR man.

Excuse me if I choke on Cameron’s hypocrisy.

While Mandela languished behind bars, the Tory leader enjoyed an all-expenses-paid junket to a white supremacist South Africa.

In 1989, Cameron marked Mandela’s 26th year in prison sipping chilled wine with the apartheid state’s rulers.

He wasn’t a Young Tory wearing a “Hang Nelson Mandela” T-shirt but his visit comforted the great man’s oppressors.

Nelson does have grace and an inspirational absence of bitterness – but there isn’t enough metal polish for Cameron’s brass neck.
